About Mike

Hi, I am a candidate for Plano ISD School Board, place 4.

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and have been part of the Dallas area community for my whole life.   I attended Hillcrest High School, the University of North Texas and Harvard University.  I have two daughters that have attended Plano ISD schools from kindergarten to high school graduation and I have one son who attends Frankford Middle School. My wife, Terry, and I are committed to public education. She is a former teacher and substitutes in the Plano ISD part-time.

I work as a Commerical Real Estate executive and volunteer extensively throughout the community. My passion is serving the community, especially in the areas of education, children and the elderly. I currently serve on the boards of two universities, University of North Texas Alumni Assocaition and Harvard University’s Real Estate Council and the Cancer Foundation for Life board. I also serve as board president of the Legacy Senior Communities, with two major properties including one in Plano at Preston & Spring Creek.

I am proud of my accomplishments, including earning the honor of Eagle Scout, president of my college fraternity, past president of the Bicentennial Lions Club, Stemmons Award winner for Commerical Real Estate, National honoree for Hebrew Free Loan Association, board member for Juvenile Diabetes of Dallas, an interviewer for students from our area who apply to Harvard and performing as a long-time hospital volunteer clown for terminally ill children.

I am devoted to excellence in education because I believe that is the pathway to a successful and happy life. I will utilize my extensive board and professional business experience to ask the tough questions about finances, outcomes, efficiencies and student achievement, to promote communication and transparency, and ensure Plano ISD utilizes taxpayer’s money efficiently. Students are my number one priority and I am committed to maintaining classroom teachers, even during these challenging financial years.

I ask for your support and vote!  Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to have a yard sign. Remember, early voting starts May 2nd and continues through May 10th. Election day is May 14th. Thank you for you support!
